Orthodontics in Paris 15

Aligning teeth and balancing jaws, at every age

Orthodontics corrects tooth position and jaw balance. Beyond the appearance of your smile, it helps restore essential functions: chewing, swallowing, breathing and speech. At Cabinet 158 Croix Nivert, we care for children, teenagers and adults, and the treatment plan is always defined after a full assessment.

What orthodontics can correct

Misaligned teeth

Teeth that overlap, cross over or have rotated.

Gaps between teeth

Diastemas and gaps that affect your smile or chewing.

Function and comfort

Improving chewing, breathing and speech, and making everyday brushing easier.

How does a tooth move?

light, continuous forcetarget positiongumalveolar bone
A gentle, constant force guides the tooth; the bone remodels around it.

The appliance applies light, continuous pressure to the tooth. The surrounding bone gradually remodels: it is resorbed on the pressure side and rebuilt on the opposite side. The tooth moves step by step. This is why treatment is measured in months and requires regular check-ups.

At what age should you consult?

  1. Around age 6

An initial assessment is recommended as permanent teeth begin to appear. This is the age for interceptive orthodontics.

  2. Adolescence

The most common time for treatment: ongoing growth makes corrections easier.

  3. Adulthood

Treatment remains possible at any age, provided the gums and supporting bone are healthy.

The most common reasons to seek advice

In children : permanent teeth with insufficient space, jaws that appear out of alignment, mouth breathing, persistent thumb sucking, or a baby tooth that does not fall out.

In teenagers : visible crowding, a discrepancy between the jaws, or difficulty biting or chewing.

In adults : teeth that have moved over the years, relapse after previous treatment, preparation for an implant or a prosthesis, or a cosmetic concern.

None of these signs determines whether treatment is needed or which type is appropriate: only a clinical examination, with X-rays if necessary, can establish this.

Your care journey in 6 steps

  1. 1Initial appointment and assessment (≈ 1 hour)
  2. 2Treatment plan and quotation
  3. 3Fitting the appliance
  4. 4Regular follow-up
  5. 5Completion of treatment
  6. 6Retention

1.Initial appointment and assessment (≈ 1 hour)

There are five parts: a discussion with the patient (or their parents) about their expectations; a clinical oral health examination; photographs of the teeth and jaws; two X-rays for a full diagnosis of teeth and gum health; and digital impressions. Please bring your Carte Vitale, your complementary health insurance card and, if you have them, any X-rays or letters from your dentist.

2.Treatment plan and quotation

At a second appointment, the orthodontist explains the diagnosis, the available options (removable appliance, braces, aligners) and the treatment objectives, to act at the right time and prevent secondary problems. The administrative team explains the cost and the reimbursement process (French national health insurance and complementary cover). You can make an informed decision.

3.Fitting the appliance

The chosen appliance is fitted, with all the guidance you need for daily life during treatment: hygiene, diet and practical care.

4.Regular follow-up

Check-up appointments to adjust the appliance and monitor progress. Their frequency depends on the appliance and the stage of treatment (generally every 4 to 10 weeks).

5.Completion of treatment

Once alignment has been achieved, the appliance is removed and the result checked.

6.Retention

A retainer or a discreet wire bonded behind the teeth helps stabilise the result over time.

Our orthodontic treatments

The appliance is chosen after the assessment, according to your age, the correction required and your lifestyle. Each approach has its own detailed page.

Removable or fixed appliance?

Removable orthodontic appliance

Removable appliances

Before permanent teeth erupt, we generally use removable appliances to treat children under 11.

Fixed orthodontic appliance

Fixed appliances

For teenagers and adults, we most often recommend fixed appliances (braces) or aligners, depending on the correction required.
